Senate Votes In Hopes Of Ending Shutdown

There's no deal yet but the Senate will take a vote today aimed at ending the government shutdown.  A key procedural vote is set for noon, Eastern time.  Republicans and Democrats are continuing negotiations on a way out of the shutdown that started over the weekend.  That's when the government ran out of money.  Republicans are proposing a funding extension to February 8th.

The Republicans also say they are committed to take up the so-called Dreamer issue separately and soon.
