Woman Accused of Spiking Illinois State Trooper's Drink

An Illinois woman has been accused of slipping an unidentified substance into a state trooper's sports drink after she was pulled over Tuesday evening.

Valeria Martinez, 45, was traveling along U.S. 67 in Schuyler County IL with her companion Kevin Weinmann Tuesday evening when the pair were pulled over by state troopers for suspected criminal activity. Because troopers suspected Martinez and Weinmann of being involved in criminal activity, they separated the pair. It was later discovered that an unidentified substance had been slipped into the sports drink of one of the troopers.

State police Trooper Mindy Carroll said the trooper drank what was in the bottle and is currently recovering and stable. There's no word on whether the trooper had to be hospitalized or what the substance was they consumed.

Weinmann, 27, of Beardstown, was charged with unlawful possession of meth and intent to deliver. In addition to the felony meth and battery charges, Martinez was charged with obstructing justice, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cannabis, having no driver's license and the operation of an uninsured vehicle.

Both Martinez and Weinmann are being held at the Schuyler County Jail in Rushville on bond of $250,000 and $100,000 respectively.

It's unknown whether either they have legal representation.
