Florida Man Found Partially Eaten By Alligator Died From A Meth Overdose

A Florida man whose body was found partially eaten by an alligator was dead before the reptile found him. According to the autopsy report, 45-year-old Michael Ford died after overdosing on methamphetamine.

Ford's remains were discovered in June near a pond in Fort Meade. An employee at Mosaic, a local mining company, called authorities after spotting an 11-foot alligator with human remains in its mouth on the company's property.

When wildlife officials arrived, they found Ford's body floating in a nearby canal. They managed to trap and kill the alligator and found Ford's hand and foot inside the stomach of the 450-pound reptile.

Authorities initially believed that Ford had drowned, but the toxicology report found methamphetamine in his system, and they determined that he overdosed before he fell into the water. They did not say what Ford was doing on Mosaic's property.
