Three corrections officers at Wallens Ridge State Prison in Wise County, Virginia, were stabbed in a premeditated attack by MS-13 gang members on Friday (May 2). The incident occurred at 9:45 a.m., involving six inmates, five of whom are confirmed MS-13 members from El Salvador. These individuals have been convicted of violent crimes, including murder and rape. The sixth inmate involved is a Sureño 13 member serving a sentence for second-degree murder.
Five people were injured in the attack and transported to the hospital, with two remaining hospitalized in stable condition. Virginia Department of Corrections Director Chad Dotson commented on the situation, stating, "Five of the individuals responsible for this senseless attack should never have been in this country in the first place." He praised the officers, calling them heroes, and commended the Wallens Ridge team for their swift response.
The attack is currently under investigation by authorities. More details are expected to emerge as the investigation continues. For now, the focus remains on the recovery of the injured officers and understanding the full scope of the incident.
