President Donald Trump plans to reintroduce the Presidential Fitness Test for American schoolchildren. The test, which originated in 1966, traditionally included activities like running, sit-ups, pullups, pushups, and a sit-and-reach test. During the Obama administration in 2012, the focus shifted to individual health rather than athletic performance.

President Trump aims to promote a culture of strength and excellence among young Americans. The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, emphasized the importance of healthy, active lifestyles for future generations. As part of the initiative, Trump will sign an order to reestablish the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition, led by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The council will also develop criteria for a new Presidential Fitness Award.

Several professional athletes, including golfer Bryson DeChambeau, NFL kicker Harrison Butker, Swedish golfer Annika Sorenstam, WWE executive Paul “Triple H” Levesque, and former NFL linebacker Lawrence Taylor, are scheduled to attend an event at the White House, announcing the new initiative.

The Presidential Fitness Test aims to encourage physical activity and health awareness among schoolchildren, and the revival of the program reflects Trump's commitment to these goals.
