10 Marvin Gaye Lyrics About The Power Of Love

There will never be another musician who can express the highs and lows of love quite like Marvin Gaye. One of the most revered singers in soul music, Gaye was a shining light of Motown and not only sang about love but also serious issues including politics, the environment, and societal problems.

Before his untimely death at the age of 45, Gaye's music evolved from doo-wop crooning in his early days to introspective and conscious songs that tackled his own personal demons. Marvin was an expert on love and he encapsulated and expressed the complicated emotion like no one else.

Here are 10 of Marvin Gaye's lyrics that prove the power of love.

1. Nothing wrong with love, If you want to love me just let yourself go - "Let's Get It On" (1973)

2. The many happy times we had, Can really never outweigh the bad - "Just to Keep You Satisfied" (1973)

3. Oh my life was torn like wind-blown sand, then a rock was formed when you held my hand. - "Sunny" (1966)

6. And baby, when I should be asleep at night, I stay up and read, And baby, baby, baby, I can't help but feel uptight, For my passion needs - "Sexual Healing" (1982)
