Matt Perdue, Dakota Mornings’ very own farm and ag expert, stepped in as guest host today for Michael Bell.
At 10:00, Matt welcomed Kevin Horneman of Burleigh County, who has operated a small organic farm for eight years. Kevin shared how his operation has grown, producing several thousand pumpkins this season and experimenting with different varieties,, including pie pumpkins known for their sweeter flavor.
At 10:30, Don Rude joined the show to talk cattle, turkey production, and his transition into organic operations. Don produced 28,000 turkeys this year and offered great insight into what goes into raising turkeys at that scale here in North Dakota.
